Job Description:

🌟 Core Shed Assistant – Build the foundations of a world-class exploration program
Monday – Friday or 8:6 Roster | Kilmore & Sunday Creek, VIC
2 Year Fixed Term Contract | Exploration Team | Start ASAP

At SXGC, we’re entering one of the most exciting and important phases of our journey.

As drilling accelerates and our understanding of the Sunday Creek system continues to grow, the quality of our core processing is more critical than ever. Accurate, consistent and safe handling of drill core underpins every geological interpretation and exploration decision we make.

We’re looking for multiple Core Shed Assistants to support this next phase. This is more than a support role — it’s an opportunity to play a hands-on part in transforming drill core into reliable data and helping build the systems, standards and culture that will support a world-class exploration and future mining operation from day one.

Why SXGC?
Because your work here matters.

At Southern Cross Gold Consolidated, we’re advancing one of Australia’s most exciting gold and antimony discoveries. Every metre of core you process contributes directly to geological interpretation, exploration success, and long-term value creation.

You’ll join a growing, hands-on team where safety, teamwork and continuous improvement are part of everyday work — not just words on a page.

About the Role:

This is a hands-on role within our core processing and exploration support team. As a Core Shed Assistant, you’ll work closely with geologists and site leadership to ensure drill core is processed accurately, safely and efficiently — supporting high-quality exploration outcomes.

You’ll play a critical role in transforming drill core into reliable data, maintaining strong systems, and contributing to continuous improvement across core handling and support activities.

Job Responsibilities:

What You’ll Drive
🔸 End-to-end diamond drill core processing including metre marking, orientation, SG, RQD, magnetic susceptibility, photography, cutting and sampling
🔸 Receiving, offloading, cleaning, aligning and marking drill core and trays to logging-ready standards
🔸 High-quality core photography and accurate data capture
🔸 Sample data entry and preparation of sample cut sheets
🔸 Coordination of sample dispatch and logistics
🔸 Application of QA/QC best practices across all core handling activities
🔸 Development and improvement of safe systems of work
🔸 Operational support to geologists and supervisors
🔸 Environmental testing and monitoring support
🔸 Support for site visits and visitor programs
🔸 Continuous improvement through sharing ideas and improving workflows

Who You Are
You’re hands-on, reliable and detail-focused. You take pride in doing things properly and safely, and you enjoy working as part of a collaborative team. You’re comfortable working independently, communicate clearly, and actively look for ways to improve how work gets done.

Your Background
✔ Comfortable in physically active, hands-on roles
✔ Focus on attention to detail and repetitive work
✔ Strong commitment to safety and environmental standards
✔ Experience in core processing, mining, or exploration environments (preferred but not necessary)
