Reporting through our Underground Development Manager, the Senior Mining Engineer focuses on long-term mine planning β life-of-mine, annual and quarterly plans, design and technical studies β and provides technical leadership across the team. The Mining Engineer focuses on ventilation design and monitoring and the delivery of engineering and capital projects. Both roles are hands-on, technical and central to how we get Sunday Creek into production.
What You'll DriveπΈ Contributing to mine design, scheduling and technical studies β from annual and quarterly plans through to life-of-mine plans and PFS/FS-level studies, depending on the role
πΈ Designing, monitoring and optimising the underground ventilation circuit to meet Victorian OHS Regulations 2017 (Part 5.3)
πΈ Supporting drill and blast design, execution and performance monitoring
πΈ Delivering engineering and capital projects, from scope through to commissioning
πΈ Liaising with geology, geotechnical, survey, environmental and operations teams to keep plans technically robust and operationally feasible
πΈ Supporting budgeting, cost forecasting and short-term scheduling and reconciliation against plan
πΈ Communicating plans, options and risk trade-offs clearly to site leadership and stakeholders
πΈ Conducting inspections, hazard identification and task observations to support safe production
πΈ For Senior Mining Engineer: providing technical direction and mentoring to the Mining Engineer and future junior/graduate engineers
Who You AreYou could be early in your ventilation and project delivery career, or you could be the person other engineers come to for the long-term plan β either way, you think several steps ahead, back your numbers, and can explain trade-offs clearly to people who aren't engineers. You're comfortable moving between the detail of a design and the big picture of the mine plan, and you take ownership of the details that keep people safe underground.
