Managing blackberries on SXG land

Commitment to ongoing management of noxious weed on SXG-owned land

Did you know that blackberries are classified as a weed of national significance and are declared noxious in most Australian states, including Victoria? As landowners, we’re legally required to control blackberries and have a dedicated land manager to ensure we meet our environmental responsibilities.

Mulching dead blackberry canes and bracken, pictured here, is an important part of our blackberry management program. Breaking the canes down helps dispose of them more quickly and helps with weed suppression.
